A second chance...

You've screwed up. It's done. Over. "Something@ that at first seemed so ordinary - uninspiring enough to overlook - now becomes a trainwreck that threatens to overturn your life!
Fickle Fate treats you like a pawn. Managing you and shifting you as she pleases, till one moment, when she plucks the ground out from under your feet, and watches your face turn from confusion to shock and to horror as your life spins around you. She disregards your feelings, is uninspired by your pleas. She casually overlooks your importance in the same way you once overlooked anothers too.

It's happened to all of us - the mistake we make without meaning to. And afterwards, we're left reeling with thoughts of, "What Happened?"; "I didn't mean to!" and that hopeless of hopeless questions: "What now?"

And that is when, I think, second chances are born.

Sometime between making the mistake and learning from it, when desperation and inspiration walk hand in hand, the seed of a second chance unfurls. And with it, the potential for something unexpected. Something, hopefully, better. And whilst there is no specified time for it to arrive - no set amount of wondering, or waiting or living - the second chance makes its entrance at the right moment. Ironically, it seems, at the moment just before you are most likely to give up.

It enters silently, not creating a stir. It waits for you to notice it, so inconspicuously just there.

And when you do see it, if you see it for what it is, what will you do with it?
Ignore it? Seems like a fair option. You've done well enough without it. What else could it offer?

Do you use it, and make a simple U-turn choice. Where you'd said "No" do you opt for an enthusiastic "Yes!" or where you had leapt without looking, do you take precaution, and ponder before rather turning away?

Or, do you take the chance and turn it into something magical? Do you see the possibilities that lie new and waiting - offering not just a way forward, but also a complete other set possibilities.

A second chance is a gift. Hidden by the universe for the ones who might find it.
Find, and use it, and it could change your life.
Find and don't use it - well, nothings lost and nothings gained.

But whichever path you do choose, the second chance will be waiting. It matters not why it is there, or what it may be for - all that matters is what you do with it.
